Asante Kotoko is set to resume training ahead of the second round on this date – CHECK OUT.

Asante Kotoko Sporting Club is set to return to training ahead of the second round of the Ghana Premier League 2023/24 season on Monday, January 22, 2024.

Per the information reaching Becks Media Online, the players and technical team of Asante Kotoko Sporting Club will report for medical examination tomorrow.

However, Asante Kotoko Sporting Club will start the training without their Head Coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum who is in Ivory Coast as a technical scout for the Black Stars of Ghana, and assistant captain Richmond Lamptey who is also part of Ghana’s 27-man squad for the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

Youngsters Peter Acquah Amidu and Shadrack Addo will join Ghana Under 20 squad at the Ghanaman Sports Complex in Prampram for training ahead of the All African games which will be held in Ghana in June.

Ahead of the second round, Asante Kotoko Sporting Club made two signings to strengthen their squad to compete for both the Ghana Premier League and MTN FA Cup titles.

Due to the injury of right-backs Samuel Asamoah and Augustine Agyapong, Asante Kotoko Sporting Club was forced to use midfielder Justice Blay at the right-back position so they settled on Nsoatreman Football Club right-back Emmanuel Kotei after a fruitful negotiation between both parties. Emmanuel Kotei joined Asante Kotoko Sporting Club on a three-year deal. The 26-year-old previously played for Tamale City Football Club before joining Nsoatreman Football Club ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Also, Asante Kotoko Sporting Club signed former striker Abdul Fatawu Safiu on a free transfer. During his first tenure, Abdul Fatawu Safiu scored fourteen goals in nineteen matches for Asante Kotoko Sporting Club in the Normalization Committee Special Competition and the Total Energies CAF Confederation Cup. He guided Asante Kotoko Sporting Club to win the Normalization Committee Special Competition and also made an appearance in the group stages of the Total Energies CAF Confederations Cup after ten years of absence in 2019 between moving to Sweden where he played for Trelleborg FF and FC Troholletan.

 

Moreover, the one-year ban on Nicholas Mensah will be removed in February, and will be eligible to play for Asante Kotoko Sporting Club.

Asante Kotoko Sporting Club finished third in the first round with twenty-nine points in seventeen games. They scored eighteen goals and t conceded twelve goals. Asante Kotoko Sporting Club finished the first round as the team with the most away wins with four away wins and are also in round 16 of the MTN FA Cup after eliminating Bibiani Gold Stars Sporting Club in round 32 at the Dun’s Park by Peter Acquah Amidu’s lone goal.

The second round of the Ghana Premier League 2023/24 season will resume after the 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations which is currently ongoing in Ivory Coast. Asante Kotoko Sporting Club will start the second round with a trip to the Volta Region to face Kpando Hearts of Lions Football Club Limited at the Hohoe Sports Stadium.
