EXCLUSIVE: Hearts of Oak shortlists Evans Adotey, Christopher Ennin, and others for the vacant coaching job.

Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club are yet to find a replacement for Dutch gaffer Martin Koopman since his departure. Martin Koopman was sacked after a poor start to the Ghana Premier League.

Assistant Coach Abdul Rahim Bashiru was appointed as head coach on an interim basis. Rahim Bashiru has not impressed since he was appointed an interim coach. He was eliminated from the MTN FA Cup Round 64 by Division Two Nania Football Club on penalty shootouts.

Abdul Rahim Bashiru has picked up five points from available fifteen points in the Ghana Premier League under his tenure. Initially, Hearts of Oak Sporting Club contacted former Tamale City Football Club gaffer Hamza Mohammed for his services but couldn’t find an agreement with the coach.

Per the information reaching the front desk of Becks Media Online, Hearts of Oak is in negotiation with the Head Coach of Berekum Chelsea Football Club, Christopher Ennin. The forty-six-year-old gaffer has been doing a great job with Berekum Chelsea Football Club since last season. Currently, Berekum Chelsea Football Club is just a point away from the top of the Ghana Premier League. Christopher Ennin’s side has won eight games, drew two, and lost five in fifteen matches played in the Ghana Premier League. They have also scored thirteen goals and conceded ten and are third on the league log with twenty-six points same as second-placed FC Samartex 1996. Berekum Chelsea Football Club is the second team with the most away points to Asante Kotoko Sporting Club. They have accumulated ten points out of eighteen points available.

However, Hearts of Oak Sporting is also in talks with Medeama Sporting Club technical director, Augustine Evans Adotey. Evans Adotey guided Medeama Sporting Club to their first-ever Ghana Premier League and also qualified them for the group stages of the CAF Champions League in their debut campaign. Augustine Evans Adotey was removed from the head coach position to the technical director role after a 3-0 and poor performance in Tanzania after Young Africans Sporting Club in round four of the CAF Champions League Group D.

On the other hand, Bechem United Football Club Head Coach Bismark Kobby Mensah who is reportedly suspended for some misconduct and indiscipline is been approached by Hearts of Oak Sporting Club for the Vacant Head Coach position. Kobi Mensah previously coached Karela United Football Club and Accra Great Olympics Football Club in the Ghana Premier League. Bismark Kobi-Mensah together with Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum of Asante Kotoko Sporting Club assisted Coach Annor Walker at the CHAN tournament in Algeria with the Black Galaxies of Ghana.

As Hearts of Oak Sporting Club is still in search of a head coach, interim coach Abdul Rahim Bashiru will lead the team against Accra Great Olympics Football Club in the Manste Derby in Kumasi on Friday, December 22, 2023, in week sixteen of the Ghana Premier League. Hearts of Oak Sporting Club is heading into the game without a win in their last six matches in the Ghana Premier League.
