Defending Champions Medeama Sporting Club has joined the race for former Asante Kotoko Sporting Club’s attacker Abdul Fatawu Safiu. Abdul Fatawu Safiu left Asante Kotoko Sporting Club to join Trelleborg FF in Sweden after a wonderful campaign with the Porcupine Warriors in the CAF Confederations Cup after helping the club to get into the group stages after ten years of absence on a loan deal with an option to buy. Abdul Fatawu Safiu continued his fine form in Sweden with Trelleborg FF and the deal was made permanent.
However, Abdul Fatawu Safiu is currently a free agent after contract expiry with FC Trollhattan in Sweden. Initially, Asante Kotoko Sporting Club approached Abdul Fatawu Safiu for his services but Medeama Sporting Club was in the chase. The experience of Abdul Fatawu Safiu will help Medeama Sporting Club in the remaining two matches in the CAF Champions League against Al Ahly and CR Beliouzdad in Kumasi and Algiers respectively as they look forward to securing a quarter-final spot in their debut CAF Champions League campaign.
