MATCH REPORT: Asante Kotoko triumph over Legon Cities in Sogakope – Betpawa Premier League.

Suleman Mohammed’s own goal, Steven Dese Mukwala, and Isaac Oppong steer the Porcupine Warriors to victory after coming from a goal down at the WAFA Park in Sogakope in week 12 of the 2023/24 Betpawa Premier League season.

After a three-match winless streak before defeating Medeama SC in Kumasi, Asante Kotoko has made two wins in a row for Asante Kotoko, while Legon Cities continues to struggle as they stay in the relegation zone. It is now two defeats in a row for the Royals.

Legon Cities were the better side in the early stages of the game. They dominated possession and created some decent chances but failed to score until a 25th-minute free-kick strike from Nasiru Moro to break the deadlock for the Royals.

Asante Kotoko settled after conceding but couldn’t get their equalizer in the first department of the game.

Assistant Coach David Ocloo made three changes at the start of the second half and those changes changed the game completely for Asante Kotoko. He brought on Peter Acquah Amidu, Baba Yahaya, and Isaac Oppong to replace Georges Mfegue, Kalo Ouattara, and Eric Serge Zeze.

Asante Kotoko went all out in search of their equalizer and their pressure paid off with a pressure which forced Suleman Mohammed who scored an own goal for the Porcupine Warrior. Asante Kotoko continued pressing despite finding their equalizer.

Ugandan forward Steven Dese Mukwala completed the comeback for Asante Kotoko in the 75th minute to get his second goal of the season. Both goals were scored away from home. Second-half substitute Isaac Oppong increased the lead for Asante Kotoko in the 93rd minute to seal victory for Asante Kotoko.

The win for Asante Kotoko makes it their second win away this season. Their first win of the season came against Accra Lions at the Accra Sports Stadium in week four of the league.
