MATCH REPORT: Bibiani Goldstars beats Asante Kotoko for the first time since joining the league.

Bibiani Goldstars bounced to back winning ways after a historic 2-1 win over Asante Kotoko at Dun’s Park in week 2 of the Betpawa Premier League.

Asante Kotoko made an early incursion in the opening stages of the game but couldn’t get a goal in the first five minutes of the game. Goldstars settled well after that early sleep and dominated the game at all departments.

Alex Aso scored a goal but was disallowed by the referee for fouling Frederick Asare in the process in the 17th minute of the game. Steven Mukwala also missed a golden opportunity to put the Porcupine Warriors in front in the 27th minute. Both sides missed a couple of goal-scoring chances and ended the first half goalless.

Prince Owusu Kwabena eventually broke the virginity of the game with a header from Emmanuel Odai’s cross in the 65th minute to make it 1-0 for the Miners. Three minutes after the goal, 62nd-minute substitute Sheriff Mohammed got the equalizer for Kotoko in the 68th minute to make it 1-1.

Eric Bosomtwi scored a screamer in the 74th minute to bring back the miners in front. The goal got everyone on their feet at Dun’s Park.

Asante Kotoko’s winless streak continues after the defeat, they have played 2 matches, one draw and a lose respectively.

Next for Asante Kotoko is against Karela United next weekend in Kumasi while Bibiani Goldstars travel to the capital to face Accra Great Olympics.
