After three matches without a win, Accra Lions were able to hold unbeaten Bofoakwa Tano at the Coronation Park, Sunyani in a week seven fixture of the Betpawa Premier League.
The Hunters started the game on an excellent note after opening the scoring in just two minutes in the game through midfielder Najib Ibrahim Fuseini after a lovely backheel pass from Clement Ansah in the penalty box to make it 1-0 for the home side.
After that early setback, Accra Lions settled well into the game and controlled the tempo of the match. They had the majority of the ball but weren’t able to break Bofoakwa Tano’s defense.
Goalkeeper Daniel Afful was forced to make a crucial save to deny Najib Ibrahim Fuseini from getting his brace in the 33rd minute.
Back in the second half, Accra Lions continued from where they left off. They had more of the ball possession but were not able to break the backline of Bofoakwa Tano. After the introduction of Dzigbah Emmanuel who came on in the 54th minute to replace Issah Husein, Accra Lions had total control of the game and were lively up front.
In the 70th minute, Dzigbah intercepted a ball from the defense of Bofoakwa Tano to locate Ernest. He located Bernard Kesse who set up Daniel Awuni inside the penalty to draw parity in Sunyani.
Both sides created numerous chances after the goal but failed to connect them as the game ended 1-1.
Accra Lions will return home to host Heart of Lions in the week eight fixture while Bofoakwa Tano will be in Dormaa against Aduana Football Club in the Bono Derby.
