MATCH REPORT: Hearts of Oak defeats Medeama SC in a four-goal thriller match – Betpawa Premier League.

Hearts of Oak bounces back to winning ways after defeating defending champions Medeama Sporting Club by 3-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium in a week 8 fixture of the Betpawa Premier League to since a win after four matches without a win.

Just six minutes into the game, Hearts of Oak’s attacking intentions were clear since the blast of the referee whistle, and got their opener through a corner kick from Salifu Ibrahim which goalkeeper Appiah Kubi pushed to ball into his own net to make it 1-0 for the Phobians.

Ten minutes after the opener, young forward Hamza Issah doubled the lead for Hearts of Oak after beating Kofi Asmah to get at the end of a long pass from Martin Karikari with a tremendous strike beyond the reach of Appiah Kubi.

Godknows Dzapkasu pulled one back for the yellow and mauves with a stronger header to beat Richmond Ayi in the twentieth minute after raising above the defense of Hearts of Oak to get at the end of Kamaradini Mamudu’s delightful cross.

Issah Hamza completed his brace after being set up by Salifu Ibrahim to tap in the thirty-third minute to make it 3-1 for Hearts Of Oak.

Back from recess, Medeama SC were in total control of the game and dominated possession but couldn’t break the defensive line of Hearts of Oak. Hearts of Oak came close to making it four but a goal-line clearance from Emmanuel Cudjoe denied Linda Mtange from getting his first of the season.

The woodwork came to the rescue of Hearts of Oak after Jonathan Sowah’s thunderbolt strike in the 78th minute.

Elsewhere in Abrankese, Nations FC dismantled Real Tamale United by 4-0 while Aduana FC handed Bofoakwa Tano their first defeat of the season by 4-2 at the Nana Agyemang Badu park in Dormaa.
