MATCH REPORT: Kalo Ouattarra scores late to secure a win for Asante Kotoko.

After three matches without a win in the Betpawa Premier League, Asante Kotoko has recorded their first win of the season after scoring late in Accra to pip Accra Lions.

After Medeama Sporting Club secured the first away win of the season, Asante Kotoko became the second team in the league to win away.

Asante Kotoko started the game well, dominated possession, and created some decent chances in the early stages of the game but failed to score from them. After the first fifteen minutes, Accra Lions settled into the game and took over.

The game was full of midfield action but the Asante Kotoko midfield of Andrews Ntim Manu, Sheriff Mohammed, and Richmond Lamptey came on top over Salifu Abass, Shawkan Mohammed, and Sadat Seidu.

Goalkeeper Daniel Afful stood between Accra Lions and Asante Kotoko after making a tremendous save to stop Richmond Lamptey’s thunderbolt strike getting to the close of halftime.

Back from recess, Asante Kotoko continued detecting the pass of the game and created some goal-scoring chances and the finishing of the Asante Kotoko attack was not clinical enough to connect them.

59th-minute substitute Kalo Ouattara headed home the only goal of the season after a delightful cross from Sheriff Mohammed in the 98th minute to seal the win for Asante Kotoko.

The win pushes Asante Kotoko to the 10th position leaving Accra Lions in the 11th position with five points each. The next stop for Asante Kotoko is at their favorite Baba Yara sports stadium where they will play host to Dormaa-based Aduana Football Club while Accra Lions will play quest at the same venue against Accra Great Olympics.
