After picking their first win of the season away to Accra Lions, Asante Kotoko has made it two wins in a row after defeating Dormaa based Aduana FC by Kalo Ouattara’s lone goal in Kumasi.
Asante Kotoko started the game with a high-pressing strategy and Aduana Football Club couldn’t contain the pressing from Dr. Ogum’s charges. Asante Kotoko had a glorious opportunity to open the scoring in the 6th after pressing the defense of Aduana FC but Ghanaian-born Ivorian Kalo Ouattara failed the connect.
Kalo Ouattara finally opened the scoring for Asante Kotoko and the goal decided the game in the 34th minute after leaping high to home Richmond Lamptey’s delightful cross. Asante Kotoko continued dominating the game until referee Klu Mawuli blew his whistle for the end of halftime.
Back from recess, Aduana FC came into the game stronger with the inclusion of experienced Zakaria Mumuni, they created some decent goal-scoring chances but Yusif Nurudeen and Henry Ansu were simply “FANTASTIC” to deny Aduana FC a goal.
In the 69th minute, captain Danlad Ibrahim made a crucial save to deny Bright Adjei’s thunderbolt strike from hitting the back of the net. After 90+6 minutes referee Mawuli blew his whistle to end the highly entertaining game in Kumasi.
Following the win, Asante Kotoko moves to second place on the log with 8points after five games whilst Aduana FC drops to 8th position with six points. Next for the Porcupine Warriors is the Ashanti Regional derby against newly promoted Nations FC at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex in Abrankese while Aduana FC will host Accra Great Olympics in Dormaa.
