Ghanaian champions Medeama Sporting Club came from a win over Algerian giants CR Beloiuzdad at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi to record their first win of the CAF Champions League group stage after two games.
After a 3-0 defeat to defending champions Al Ahly in Cairo last weekend, Medeama Sporting Club recorded the debut group stage win in their debut CAF Champions League campaign.
CR Beloiuzdad, the away side silenced the whole stadium with the opener from the spot in the 38th minute through Abdelraouf Benguit after being awarded a penalty in the 37th minute. Despite conceding, Medeama Sporting Club continued to dominate the game.
The constant pressure from Medeama Sporting Club paid off in the 45th minute where former Ghana U23 forward Daniel Lomotey equalized from the Yellow and Mauves after getting on the end of a strike from Kamaradini Mamudu just before the break.
Back from recess, Medeama Sporting Club continued putting pressure on the Algerian side but their defense were resolute not to concede. Derrick Fordjour dazzled through the defense of CR Beloiuzdad but his strike was saved by CR Beloiuzdad goalkeeper Alexis Guendouz in the 78th minute to keep the game leveled.
Left-back Kamaradini Mamudu got the winner for Medeama Sporting Club in the 94th minute with a nice header after a delightful cross from Kwadwo Amoako to complete the comeback for the Ghanaian Champions. After 90+9 minutes, Gambian referee Jammeh blew his whistle for the end of the game.
After two matches played, Medeama Sporting Club is second with three points while CR Beloiuzdad is third with three points.
