MATCH REPORT: Medeama SC and Yanga SC share spoils in Kumasi – CAF Champions League

Young Africans Sporting Club of Tanzania held Ghanaian Champions Medeama Sporting Club to a 1-1 draw at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in round 3 of the CAF Champions League group stages.

Following the draw in Kumasi, Young Africans Sporting Club remains winless after three matches played in the Group. They have drawn two matches and lost one which was against CR Beloiuzdad in Algeria.

Jonathan Sowah announced his return to the Medeama Sporting Club team after serving his one-match suspension with a goal in the 27th minute from the spot to put the yellow and mauves in front. Medeama Sporting Club continued pressuring the Tanzanian side to double their lead but were not clinical enough upfront.

Young Africans Sporting Club player of the month of November, Peodoh Pacome Zouzoua silenced the stadium in the 39th minute to level the tie in Kumasi. Pacome dazzled through the defense of Medeama Sporting Club.

Back from recess, Medeama Sporting Club pressed Yanga SC high on the pitch to take the lead again but the Tanzanian side were resolute and compact at the back to deny Medeama SC from scoring.

Left-back Nickson Kibabage scored in the 69th minute after being put through by Burkinabe Ki Aziz but was flagged offside.

In the other game in Group D, CR Beloiuzdad held Defending Champions Al Ahly to a goalless draw at the Al Salam stadium in Cairo.

Al Ahly leads Group D with Five points after three games while Medeama Sporting Club occupies the second position and tie on the same points with CR Beloiuzdad with four points and Young Africans sit on the bottom with just two points.
