MATCH REPORT: Stephen Amankona steer “the Bibires” to victory – Betpawa Premier League.

Berekum Chelsea shocked defending champions Medeama Sporting Club at the Tarkwa Akoon Park courtesy Stephen Amankona 26th minute strike in the week 10 fixture of the Betpawa Premier League.

Medeama Sporting Club after defeating Nsoatreman FC in a week 3 outstanding by 1-0 on Thursday at the Akoon Park, Medeama couldn’t hold the Bibires who defeated the yellow and mauves by a lone goal.

Medeama Sporting Club, the home side started the on a brighter note, had more possession in the final third of the Berekum based club by failed to utilize on the chances they created. Gregory Owusu Sekyere was also impressive in the early stages of the game for Berekum Chelsea.

In the 21st minute, former Asante Kotoko forward Stephen Amankona broke the deadlock of the game for Berekum Chelsea to stun home fans at the stadium. Medeama Sporting Club continued attacking Berekum Chelsea to find their equalizer before the break but it did not come. Halftime ended 1-0.

In the second half, Head Coach Evans Adotey thrown in more men upfront to find their equalizer and possibly a winner but the Berekum Chelsea defense headed by Zakaria Fuseini were solid at the back to complement the massive show Gregory Owusu Sekyere displayed at the Akoon Park today.

Following the disappointing home loss, Medeama SC occupies the 5th position with 16points after 10matches played while Berekum Chelsea is 4th with the same number of points but above Medeama SC on goals difference.

Next for Medeama Sporting Club is in the Garden City where they play quest to “Struggling” Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium while Berekum Chelsea will be at their favorite Golden City Park to host Legon Cities.
