Medeama SC has officially signed a year deal with defender Richard Akrofi after ending his stay with Nsoatreman FC.
Richard Akrofi was signed to add his rich experience to support the team’s defense ahead of the debut CAF Champions League campaign. The 31-year-old defender signed for Nsoatreman FC at the beginning of the 2022-23 season where he featured in 18 games for the side.
He also had two seasons with Kumasi-based King Faisal where he captained and helped them survive relegation before switching to the Nana Konamansah Park.
Akrofi, who formerly played for Hearts Of Oak is expected to augment this back line of the yellow and mauves in the quest for league title defense and also CAF Champions League journey.
He is expected to be part of the team that will compete for honours in the upcoming season including Premier League title defense as well as compete in the FA Cup and the CAF Champions League.
Medeama has been drawn against Nigerian side Remo Stars SC in the first preliminary round of the competition, with the first leg set for August 20, 2023, at the Cape Coast Stadium.
The second leg of the tie will place in a week’s time at the Remo Stars stadium in the Ogun State in Nigeria.
