ASANTE KOTOKO NEWS: Former Asante Kotoko striker Franck Etouga Mbella leaves Al Masry, Imoro Ibrahim set to make a return – READ MORE.

Former Asante Kotoko Sporting Club striker Franck Etouga Mbella has left Egyptian side Al Masry Sporting Club on loan to El Gouna till the end of the season.

The Cameroonian forward was instrumental during his days at Asante Kotoko Sporting Club. Franck Etouga Mbella became the club’s all-time top scorer in the Ghana Premier League with twenty-one goals in 2021/22 under coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum and also helped Asante Kotoko Sporting Club to win their 26th Ghana Premier League title.

After the 2021/22 football season, Franck Etouga Mbella Thierry completed a three-year deal with Egyptian outfit Al Masry Sporting Club from Asante Kotoko Sporting Club for a fee of around three hundred thousand dollars.

In Egypt, Franck Thierry Etouga Mbella has scored two goals in fourteen matches for Al Masry Sporting Club in all competitions since joining in September 2022.

Franck Thierry Etouga Mbella previously played for Nkufo Academy and AS Fortuna de Mfou in Cameroon before joining Asante Kotoko Sporting Club.

Moreover, former Asante Kotoko Sporting Club left-back Imoro Ibrahim is on the verge of making a return to Asante Kotoko Sporting Club after terminating his contract with Al Hilal Omdurman a year ago.  The 24-year-old defender had an impressive season for Asante Kotoko Sporting Club during the 2021/22 season in the Ghana Premier League where he provided the most assists (7) in the Ghana Premier League. However, Imoro Ibrahim scored some beautiful free-kick goals.

Imoro Ibrahim was signed for Asante Kotoko Sporting Club ahead of the 2019/20 season by Coach Maxwell Konadu on a free transfer and Imoro has been exceptional since joining. During his tenure, Imoro Ibrahim played seventy-three matches for the Porcupine Warriors. He scored five goals and provided eight assists in his three-year journey at Asante Kotoko Sporting Club before joining Al Hilal in Sudan.

Per the reports reaching Becks Media Online, Imoro Ibrahim and his management have submitted all documents needed for his registration ahead of the second round of the Ghana Premier League 2023/24 season despite the closure of the second transfer window after failing to make a move outside Ghana. Also, negotiations between Asante Kotoko Sporting Club and Imoro Ibrahim on personal terms are advanced.

The deal is expected to be signed before the close of the week. Imoro Ibrahim is currently doing personal training in his hometown Tamale while negotiations are ongoing.

If Imoro Ibrahim signs for Asante Kotoko Sporting Club, he will be the Porcupine Warriors’ third signing in the second transfer window after experienced Abdul Fatawu Safiu and right-back Emmanuel Kotei from Nsoatreman Football Club.

Unlucky enough, Asante Kotoko Sporting Club’s versatile midfielder Sherif Mohammed has suffered an injury through a motor accident and will be out of the season.

Asante Kotoko Sporting Club will start their second round campaign in tamale against Karela United Football Club in the MTN FA Cup round 16 at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium before a return to Ghana Premier League action against Kpando Hearts of Lions Football Club Limited at the Hohoe Sports Stadium.
